We see giving as part of how we worship.
You won’t see us make a big deal about giving during our services. We don’t take up an offering during church. We believe giving is an act of worship in response to God’s incredible gift to us, and that it’s something intimate between you and God. Here are a few things the Bible says about giving:
GIVE QUIETLY, WITHOUT SHOW.
Matthew 6:1-4 – “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
HEART FOLLOWS TREASURE.
Matthew 6:21 – “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
GOD LOVES GENEROSITY.
Deuteronomy 15:10 – “Give generously to him and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.”
2 Corinthians 9:6-8 – “Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed.”
GIVE, AND IT WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU.
Luke 6:38 – “Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.”
