Most of you are aware of NCC’s long-standing partnership with HELP through our support of the Night’s Welcome winter shelter program for the homeless of our community. However, you may not be familiar with NCC’s support of HELP’s Loaves and Fishes lunch program.
Loaves and Fishes is held for one hour at noon every Friday at the HELP Day Center on Buckroe Avenue in Hampton. It is supported by local churches that bless our homeless community by providing lunch and a short Bible Study in a small group setting. Through the Global Focus Outreach ministry, NCC extends a helping hand by serving at Loaves and Fishes on the fourth and fifth Fridays of each month.
Teams of 4 or 5 individuals are needed each month to serve. For those who are gifted in the art of cooking (and even those who are still perfecting that gift), you can prepare a simple lunchtime meal for approximately 10-15 guests. Others can help by serving that meal at the Day Center. All that’s required is a smile that says “God loves you and so do I!”. Or you can be adventurous and lead a short Bible Study or share a devotion or testimony. Fear not! Simply share what God has put on your heart and it will quickly lead to an interesting group discussion.
Please consider being a part of the Loaves and Fishes ministry in whatever way you can, whenever you can. Those you serve will be blessed and encouraged by your kindness and it will be a tangible demonstration of how much Jesus loves them, no matter what their situation is. If you would like more information, come speak with Sandie and me on Sunday and we would be thrilled to tell you more about the program. If you’re ready to help, contact Ashley in the church office and Let’s Do Lunch!
